When Salted Café bar beans at West Lakes says it goes out of its way to cater for everyone, you had better believe it.

The establishment, offering a full café service plus liquor licence dominated by local craft beers and wines, opened in 2017 with dual commitments: to discover new tastes through an innovative approach to its food dishes, and top cater for all dietary requirements and allergies.

As owner, chef and long-time hospitality industry figure Chris Reid says, if a customer sees something they like but it has an element they can’t consume, Salted will make the necessary ingredient adjustments and customise the dish accordingly.

The ‘cater-for-everyone’ mantra doesn’t end there, with Salted earning a growing – and glowing – reputation for its ‘man’s best friend is Salted’s best friend’ um, dogma, by welcoming people with pooches to its outdoor dining area overlooking the tranquil vista across West Lakes’ Infinity Waters.

Indeed, each dog gets a special canine food treat on arrival!

Other treats at this breakfast, lunch and dinner destination (summer only) include a breakfast of potato rosti, smoked salmon, lemon dill sour cream and poached eggs; green eggs and beef – that’s thinly sliced pieces of seared beef with smashed baby potatoes, roasted cherry tomatoes, creamed asparagus and chimichurri sauce topped with a fried egg – for brunch and a lunch delight of smoked trout stack, served on a zucchini fritter with avocado, prawns, greens, garlic aioli, beetroot relish, capers and lemon.

With the cooler weather upon us, Salted has also rolled out a winter specials menu headlines by rich and mostly mild tandoori chicken meatballs.

The food is backed by a service philosophy that strives to make everyone who walks through the doors feel as though they’re arriving at Chris’ home for a relaxed and scrumptious meal.

The coffee, too, is a major selling point, with Salted offering its signature house blend that encapsulates the soft and intense flavours of beans from the premium coffee-growing countries of Brazil, Colombia and Nicaragua. Those more partial to single origin caffeine hits can also order a cuppa made solely from the beans from these countries, as well as from the equally first-rate regions of Costa Rica and Guatemala.
