Heritage, ART and Culture
As you take a trip through Adelaide’s history, you will feel the essence of Adelaide’s quiet refinement and how it came to be.
Settled in 1836 as a free, self-sustaining colony, Adelaide became a self-governing region only twenty years later in 1856. Adelaide was a well planned city that offered ownership of land at a price, with good employment opportunities for those who emigrated here.
Our museums and heritage sites and tours tell the story of our settlement in this wonderful city and how it came to be. We will also take you back thousands of years before settlement when the Kaurna People were custodians of the Adelaide region.
