Bait | Catch | Eat

Go fishing in Adelaide from our jetties, beaches and inlets or on a charter.

Fishing is a favourite pastime for many of the locals who fish from the jetties and beaches. Head down to the local bait and tackle store and ask our friendly fishing locals for the best advice and local spots for abundant fish.

Fishing charters will take you further out for some of our deep water species. South Australia is blessed with the cooler waters off the Great Australia Bight providing a great range and quantity of fish species.

We are famous for our South Aussie King George Whiting. If you have not tried King George Whiting before, make sure you either catch one or buy one at one of our coastal eateries!

There is also Southern Calamari, Blue Swimmer Crabs, Small Sharks, Garfish, Australian Salmon, Trevally, Flathead and a range of reef fish.

You can even visit the first of its kind Artificial Reef in West Lakes and cast a reel off the foreshore for numerous types of fish.

Fishing off the Jetty

The jetties of Adelaide Beaches including Glenelg, Henley, Brighton and Grange Beach are lined with locals every night waiting for that bite to happen.

Head down to the local jetty and cast your line over the rails. There is plenty of fish for everyone!

West Lakes - Artificial Reef Habitat

As part of Council’s project to improve the fish habitat and promote positive, recreational fishing in West Lakes, 12 new artificial reefs were deployed into the waters of the lake.

The floating reefs are world first, and were designed specifically for lake, which has a soft sediment that could otherwise bury conventional reef structures over time.

The reefs are expected to promote the health of the lake and improve the fish habitat with a likely increase in fish numbers within the lake.

The new reefs have been strategically placed to increase positive fishing from Inlet Reserve and increase the fish population in the lake. Currently there is a fish cleaning station a playground and public toilets all available at Inlet Reserve making it an ideal family fishing location.
